meet the craftsman

Hey, I’m Charlie Baylor, owner of Patterson Furniture. I’ve been a resident of Columbus for many years, and in that time I’ve developed not just my skills in woodworking but also my love for the craft.

I've been making furniture and decor for over a decade, which all started in my high school shop class learning fundamentals. From there, I moved on to The Vermont Woodworking School, earning my Bachelor’s of Fine Arts in Fine Furniture Making and Design.

During that time, I refined my skills by learning advanced techniques in joinery, bent lamination, inlay, veneering, finishing, and more. I also had the opportunity to work with a variety of wood, understanding their unique characteristics and how to best bring out their natural beauty. I learned all of this from master of the craft, who helped me gain hands-on experience in both traditional and contemporary styles. This blend of formal education and practical experience has allowed me to develop a unique aesthetic that combines functionality with artistic expression.

Today, I blend innovative designs with timeless craftsmanship to create unique, heirloom-quality pieces meant to be treasured and passed down through generations.

Thanks for considering Patterson Furniture. I look forward to creating a unique piece that you'll love.
